Student Leadership

The council has a great responsibility to help mold and shape the entire band program. When chosen as a council member, a student is not expected to possess all of the traits of a great leader. The director looks for the student's ability to gain the knowledge to become a great leader and the desire to make those qualities part of their lives. A negative council member can be more of a detriment to a band program than any other person. The band looks to the council for guidance and leadership. A council member who does not follow the values and principles outlined by the Band Director will be removed from the council. The director will make this change, without a second chance, the moment a council member compromises the integrity, dignity, or principles of the Lake Howell Band Program.
